About the Garifuna People
The Garifuna are an Afro-Indigenous people whose roots trace back to a blend of West and Central African, Arawak, and Carib ancestry. With a rich cultural heritage, the Garifuna community is known for its vibrant music, dance, language, and traditions. Many Garifuna people live along the Caribbean coast of Central America, where they face significant social and economic challenges, often with limited access to education, healthcare, and employment opportunities. Learn more about the amazing story of the Garifuna people on the Roatan community website.
